About Us
At Crystal Academy, we’re proud to be an award-winning dance school, recently named Dance School of the Year for 2024/25 by a prestigious corporate awards group. Based in Hednesford, our academy is dedicated to nurturing talent, fostering creativity, and empowering individuals through the transformative power of dance and the performing arts. Founded with the vision of becoming a vibrant community hub, we offer diverse dance programmes, workshops, and events to inspire, educate, and enrich our participants’ lives.
Who We Are
Crystal Academy is more than just a place for dance and acrobatics—it’s a close-knit community of dancers, instructors, and supporters who all share a passion for the arts. Led by seasoned professionals and supported by dedicated volunteers, we aim to provide high-quality instruction, personalised attention, and an environment where each individual can flourish and reach their full potential.
What We Do
Our academy offers a wide array of dance classes for all ages and skill levels, including ballet, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, and more. From beginners discovering a love for dance to advanced students honing their craft, our programmes cater to everyone. Alongside regular classes, we provide workshops, masterclasses, and numerous performance opportunities to enrich our students' experiences.
To date, our dancers have achieved Champion status at UK Nationals, Regional Finals, World Finals, Team England Qualifiers, and International Aerial Arts Tournaments. We’ve had the honour of performing twice before audiences of over 60,000 at Tottenham Stadium, showcasing at West End theatres across London, and participating in countless productions, including beloved shows like Encanto and Aladdin.
Community Focus
Community lies at the heart of Crystal Academy. We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where individuals from all backgrounds feel valued and supported. Through outreach initiatives, partnerships with local organisations, and community events, we work to make dance accessible to everyone, fostering connections that enrich our local area.
Thanks to the support of various organisations, including Hednesford Council, Staffordshire County Council, West Midlands Combined Authority, and others, we can offer funded and reduced-cost workshops and classes. Our partnerships have allowed us to deliver fully funded holiday workshops through the generous support of Staffordshire County Council, the Staffordshire Crime Commissioner, the Staffordshire Foundation, and Staffordshire County Councillors.
Developing Elite Talent
At Crystal Academy, we believe in each student’s potential, whether their goal is to pursue dance professionally or enjoy it as a fulfilling hobby. Our instructors are dedicated to guiding students through personal growth, offering tailored feedback and mentorship to help them reach their aspirations. We’re committed to developing not just dancers, but confident individuals who are resilient, inspired, and empowered.
Youth Leadership OFQUAL Accredited
Celebrating our students' hard work is an essential part of what we do. From competitions to inclusive showcases, our dancers have various platforms to shine, develop confidence, and connect with peers. Unlike many other schools, we don’t offer exams; instead, we focus on resilience and confidence-building through performances. Select students may also participate in fully funded, Ofqual-recognised Youth Leadership qualifications, which carry UCAS points for university applications—a unique opportunity we’re excited to provide.
