Crystal Academy expectations and rules at dance competitions & showcases

All members wishing to compete need to be enrolled in an Acrobatics class, as well as a competing style; all competition members need full competition kit at a cost of £65. Commitment and consistency to classes is key; this includes practising at home, where Principal Kirsty has final say on entries. Your child should be encouraged to practise safely at home. Competition spaces are fiercely competitive and this standard can be too much for some (dancer and parent), however this is the reason why we can hold our own at Regionals, Nationals and Worlds - the highest level of competition available to dancers.

Wherever we go and whatever the level - always be respectful and represent Crystal Academy to our highest standards expected. We reserve the right to remove dancers, parents, family members, etc; this is something we have only had to do twice since we formed. Please note: the academy will not refund you should you drop out for whatever reason. This is partly to do with the admin costs, but largely to do with the factor that we often work with a third-party that have their own zero-refund policy too.

Every competition and showcase entry comes at a cost and additional rehearsals are often required. Costumes are also a necessity. As a business, the efforts made from all in supporting the academy through fundraising means we can purchase costumes and offer additional rehearsals for FREE (no other school does this). For fairness, those unable to support with fundraisers will be charged an additional costume hire fee (proportionate to the value of the costume at roughly 20%. For example, if a costume costs us £30, you will pay an additional £6). Costumes should be returned immediately, or within 7-days; where there are damages or stains, you will be asked to replace the costume.
