To maintain the high standard of our Competition Teams - and to protect the hard work, reputation, and wellbeing of all dancers - the following requirements are non-negotiable.
All competition members must be enrolled in at least one Foundations class (Acrobatics or Lyrical, or both).
As expected, dancers who train more consistently and across multiple disciplines develop skills and confidence more rapidly.
Competition and event fees are strictly non-refundable.
This is due to:
To avoid confusion: we hold no liability for cancellations or withdrawal of your child’s place once you have confirmed participation.
Dancers must be available for the full three weeks leading up to any competition.
Our school’s reputation is built on commitment, consistency and high-quality performances.
If your dancer cannot attend rehearsals in this critical period, they cannot be considered for competition entries. This could result in your child being removed and no refund issued.
We understand this model isn’t for everyone - there are many non-competitive and showcase-focused schools locally. We are not one of them.
Parents are responsible for providing the correct footwear for their child.
We also reserve the right to charge for replacement costume hire in cases of:
We genuinely do not encourage anyone to join the competition team lightly - it is expensive, weekends are often written off, and competition days are long.
If that hasn’t put you off… then trust us, and watch your child grow into something incredible.

We train to compete at the highest level; our Foundations classes are currently the only option for non-competition team members.

Open: these are the young athletes who are at the Academy most days of the week - they train for the UK National circuits - where qualifiers are a requirement.
Elite: This is our status level - these dancers have titles at World Level, compete on the biggest stage, represent the core values of Crystal Academy, and have placed at multiple Nationals in different styles. This title is earned through merit.

Competitions are entered with as much notice given as possible and we hold a strict zero-refund policy should you drop out for any reason.
All competition members are expected to have full competition kit and are enrolled in a competition team AND a Technique Class.**
**For first time competitors, competition kit is NOT required. Please note: competition teams need to be a priority.

Everything comes at a cost and the academy will run additional rehearsals where needed.
Costumes come with a small hire fee - we try our very best to keep fees down as much as possible.
Additionally, we call on the Academy members, their parents, friends and family to support as much as possible.
This can fund, or greatly reduce the additional costs on costumes, footwear, hair & make-up, etc.
